HED/USAID Higher Education Partnerships in Africa: 1997-2007
There is growing recognition of the strategically important role higher education plays in the development of African nations--from support of basic education through teacher training, to skills development for professionals in key social and economic sectors.
This paper was developed in response to a request from the Africa-U.S. Higher Education Collaborative Initiative and explores a decade of experience with more than 100 U.S.-Africa higher education partnerships that are part of the USAID-funded Higher Education for Development Program.
