With this report, programme partners, War Child Holland, Ahfad University for Women, and Netherlands Organisation for Applied Scientific Research (TNO), will present research findings from e-Learning Sudan, an innovation technology education programme for out-of-school students to access quality education in Sudan. Beyond the results of rigorous research conducted from 2012 to 2016The research from ELS, Phases I and II reached some significant conclusions, both in terms of the creation of educational resources for the most disadvantaged children, and how innovative programmes can be designed for scale.
This report will illuminate the various processes employed for an innovation programme designed to scale. These are important for the humanitarian sector, given the challenging context in which the programme was implemented, some of which can be adapted and applied in future innovation initiatives. The research from ELS Phases I and II reached some significant conclusions, both in terms of the creation of educational resources for the most disadvantaged children, and how innovative programmes can be designed for scale:
- Serious games are an effective learning approach
- Designing the intervention for disadvantaged children in Sudan was a success
- ELS has a positive impact on self-esteem
