The Mambo Elimu interactive radio instruction (IRI) series is designed to provide curricula-based lessons for out-of-school children who gather at learning centers. This accelerated four-year program of primary education takes place over the course of two calendar years, thus enabling these children to join their peers in formal primary school for Grade 5 or another pathway (work or vocational). All grades teach kiSwahili and English literacy, numeracy, and lifeskills and later grades incorporate social studies and science.
