How Can Education Technology Improve Learning?

New research from the Center for Universal Education (CUE) at Brookings finds that technology’s impact on learning and teaching has been limited, especially in low- and middle-income countries, largely because tech has been used to replace analog tools. 

This report argues for an approach to education technology that seeks to:

• Understand the needs, infrastructure, and capacity of a school system
• Survey the best available evidence on interventions that match those conditions
• Closely monitor the results of innovations before they are scaled up
