Guidance Notes for Planning and Implementing Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA)

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) and RTI collaborated to prepare guidance notes for practitioners based on their experience conducting different types of EGRA in various country contexts. The result of our partnership is this reference work, the Guidance Notes for Planning and Implementing Early Grade Reading Assessments (EGRA), which provides step-by-step assistance for planning and implementing an EGRA. Each of the six chapters outlines a key stage related to the development and implementation of EGRA, including a step-by-step overview of the process, personnel needed, activities and tasks, and outcomes of each stage. Although the Guidance Notes are detailed, they are not meant to be a stand-alone tool; rather, they supplement existing resources on EGRA such as the Early Grade Reading Assessment toolkit.
