We were proud to present two ignite talk videos from the USAID Private Sector Engagement Team and the Learning & Education team at Google. For two weeks the presenters of these ignite talks moderated an online discussion through the EducationLinks Discussion Forum LinkedIn group.

In this ignite, Lawrence Camp, Senior Advisor to the USAID Private Sector Engagement Team, introduces the concepts of private sector engagement in education and education finance. Learn where and how the private sector intersects with the education ecosystem, and how USAID is leveraging these intersections through innovative mechanisms and initiatives.

PSE in Practice: Google "Read Along"
This ignite talk by Nitin Kashyap, Product Manager of Read Along, introduces Google’s Read Along application, a free, speech-based app that leverages artificial intelligence (AI) technology to help children learn to read and access books through a digital library. Learn how the app works, initial results from pilot programs, and how Google has pivoted its rollout of Read Along in light of the global pandemic.

Lawrence Camp
Lawrence is a Senior Adviser with USAID's Private Capital and Microenterprise Office, primarily focused on innovative strategies for mobilizing private financing for development objectives. He has long experience in commercial banking and structured finance as Vice President and Group Head, and subsequently as Chief of Party of USAID projects. He is a graduate of Princeton University and the American Graduate School for International Management.
Nitin Kashyap
Nitin is part of the Learning & Education team at Google and leads product management for Read Along—Google’s AI-powered speech based reading tutor app for helping children learn to read. Having joined Google in 2015, Nitin has worked across diverse products areas such as Ads and Search, and has a keen interest in bringing the power and joys of Google & technology to those who need it the most and specifically new internet users. Prior to Google, Nitin has also worked as a consultant with Mckinsey UK and as a software developer for Texas Instruments and Adobe Systems India.
