Adapting Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) to Include Sign Language
On June 26, All Children Reading: A Grand Challenge (ACR GCD) for Development, Josh Josa, disability-inclusive education portfolio lead at USAID, and Kristina Solum, senior director of literacy and learning at School-to-School International, held a webinar about the adaptation, language subtasks development, and administration of the Early Grade Reading Assessment (EGRA) to enable assessment of sign language users.
Participants learned about the successes, challenges and lessons learned from developing and piloting the Early Grade Reading Sign Language Assessment (EGRSLA) to assess the language and reading skills of students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an ACR GCD-funded project implemented by the Institute for Disabilities Training and Research and École Nationale Supérieure des Mines de Rabat in Morocco.
