Special Opportunity for USAID Higher Education-Affiliated Awardees
USAID’s Research Division (formerly the Center for Development Research), is seeking applications from USAID higher institution-affiliated Awardees interested in receiving technical support in translating the results of their USAID-funded projects into development impact. See below for additional information about two discrete opportunities for tailored technical assistance. Please note that while this technical assistance will be provided free of charge for selected applicants, each requires a significant time commitment, and neither is associated with additional grant/activity funding.
Overview
Through the Research and Technical Assistance Center (RTAC), the Research Division (ITR/R) within the Innovation, Technology, and Research (ITR) Hub at USAID aims to support our higher education-based partners in their efforts to translate their research evidence, innovations, or other project outputs into development impact. Toward this goal, we are currently offering the opportunity to collaborate with USAID and our RTAC partners to generate/receive tailored research translation tools and/or products:
For Mid-Stage Projects | For Late- or End-Stage Projects |
Do you have a solid foundation of initial research evidence or a pilot project with promising results? Would you like support in engaging key stakeholders, bringing innovations to scale, and/or prioritizing research activities moving forward? |
Do you have strong evidence from a research project or a tested innovation resulting in actionable recommendations and/or applications for external stakeholders? Would you like support in getting the message out? |
Detailed information about the objectives and application process for each opportunity is provided in the linked documents.
Eligibility
Eligibility for the above opportunities is restricted to projects that have been funded, either directly or indirectly, by USAID and that have an affiliation to a higher education institution. Eligibility is extended to sub-Awardees (i.e., NOT restricted to Prime Awardees). Applications from sub-Awardees should be submitted by the sub-Awardee themself, not by the Prime Awardee (although Prime Awardees are welcome to participate in the process).
Kindly note that these products are intended to support work at the local project team level. Applicants may apply for more than one opportunity, but please be advised that each opportunity aims to support projects at different phases (i.e., mid-stage and late/end-stage), so it is unlikely that the same project will be appropriate for both opportunities. Applicants may also submit multiple projects for consideration, provided they meet the eligibility and selection criteria outlined. Applicants who have already received similar research-to-action and/or communications support from R/RTAC are not eligible to receive the same type of support already provided; however, they may apply for one of the other opportunities (for example, a past recipient of a Research-to-Action Plan is still eligible to apply for a Communications Product). Please note that, if selected, Applicants must be willing and able to dedicate the indicated amount of time and effort to engaging with USAID and RTAC between September 2022 and February 2023.
Application
Interested parties must complete the appropriate application (linked below) by August 8th, 2022. Please also send an email as soon as possible to itr.researchfeedback@usaid.gov expressing your interest to apply.
