Palestinian Community Infrastructure Development (PCID)
This community infrastructure development activity implements small-to-medium infrastructure projects in the water, wastewater, health, youth and education sectors. The activity has improved the school environment in three schools, and thereby improves the well-being of 963 students in the West Bank. Three new school buildings were constructed and furnished in the West Bank. Before the interventions, the students of Qaffin Basic Girls’ School, Hatta Basic Co-educational School, and Jalqamous Secondary Boys’ School studied for hours in dim, drab and overcrowded classrooms without any recreational facilities. After adding or renovating 52 educational rooms, rehabilitating school playgrounds, renovating bathroom facilities, and providing basic furniture and computers, 626 female and 337 male students learn in colorful, handicap-accessible school buildings with equipped science and computer labs, libraries and playgrounds. Energy-saving solar panels was also installed, making the schools greener and cutting energy costs.
