Food for Education and Child Nutrition (FFE Jigiya)
This activity aims to improve student attendance and reading skills, support community-specific enrollment campaigns, and provide school feedings to reduce short-term hunger in Mali. The activity provides Vitamin A, deworming medication and THR is distributed to enrolled students in 264 primary schools. Members of SMCs and women receive tailored training, and the National School Canteen Center is provided technical support. To improve education quality, teachers are trained in the Balanced Literacy Approach, which is an instructional technique of teaching reading supported by USAID and adopted by the Ministry of Education. Additionally, the activity provides classroom kits and monitors student progress using the Early Grade Reading Assessment.
