Promising practices for Supporting Wellbeing and Learning During Covid-19
Organized by the USAID Education in Crisis and Conflict Network (ECCN), this webinar will serve as a moment for ECCN members to pause and reflect on our ongoing COVID-19 recovery efforts. This webinar is the first in a USAID Leading Through Learning Global Platform series highlighting promising education practices from across the world and how they are making an impact. Additionally, as a developmental learning opportunity, participants will engage in joint reflection, sharing and learning about resilience through COVID-19 response and recovery, what we can take forward to future response, and the role evidence plays in this.
This webinar will highlight three responses to COVID-19 that center around psychosocial support (PSS), social emotional learning (SEL), and protection interventions working to mitigate learning loss and/or sustain learning outcomes during the pandemic. Highlighted interventions include: Amal Alliance’s “Colors of Kindness,” which is a play-based education technology SEL intervention in Bangladesh; Population Council’s “Track, Trace, Talk and reTurn” intervention with the Ministry of Education in Kenya; and STiR’s “teacher professional development” radio-based intervention in Uganda. The three interventions share the goal of ensuring the psychosocial wellbeing of learners and/or teachers to either remain in, or return to, learning during COVID-19. The webinar will include presentations by project leads of three highlighted promising practices, and small group discussion on key themes, focusing on resilience and evidence in COVID-19 response.
