Open Licensing Webinars - Second Offering
GRN is collaborating with Global Book Alliance (GBA) and All Children Reading (ACR)to conduct a series of three in-depth webinar-based trainings on open licensing in the coming months. The webinars are intended to support ministries of education, publishers and Early Grade Reading (EGR) implementers as they collaborate to provide open EGR resources. Webinars will be offered twice and scheduled at times accessible to people in the United States, Africa and Asia.
The first webinar is offered to reach both the Africa and Asia regions, and will focus on basic information about Creative Commons. Creative Commons clarifies how the public may access, use and adapt resources, but also encourages respect for copyright and copyright holders. This webinar will primarily target ministries of education, EGR implementers, publishers and authors who wish to better understand OER policy, open licensing options and the support mechanisms offered by Creative Commons' global network. Cable Green, Director of Open Education at Creative Commons, pictured above, will be the featured presenter for both webinars.
Webinar 2 (Open Licensing Business Models) in June 2019, will be offered to publishers of children’s literature who are exploring the benefits and limitations of an open licensing business model.
Webinar 3 (Guidance to Reading Program Implementers; date to be announced)will debut guidance developed by Global Reading Network and tap the expertise of USAID-funded programs who have executed open licensing of Early Grade Reading materials in collaboration with local Ministries of Education and publishers.
