Description of Organization: DDI integrates technical expertise with values-driven, cross-cutting priorities, and modern approaches to the way USAID performs its work. It provides client-centered technical services to USAID’s Missions worldwide, supports programming to innovate, learn, and address emerging issues, and provides technical leadership within the Agency and externally to enhance development impact.
EDU leverages its expertise, partnerships, and global perspective to guide and influence the education sector, advancing U.S. Government development priorities.
Description of Position: The Education Development Officer (Basic Education Advisor) focuses on critical areas of education and development, including: remedial skills, accelerated learning, non-formal education, upper primary education, the transition to secondary education, curriculum design, and foundational literacy and numeracy. The Officer advises on education programming in formal and non-traditional educational settings in a variety of contexts. The Officer formulates policies, designs programming, and provides technical support to USAID Missions to advance the U.S. Government Strategy on International Basic Education and USAID’s Education Policy. The Officer engages with USAID partners, including implementing and donor partners, in support of shared interests in the Education Sector. Finally, the Officer serves as a Contracting Officer's Representative/Agreement Officer's Representative (COR/AOR), Alternate COR/AOR, and/or Activity Manager for relevant mechanisms in EDU.
Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (FL-03) of this position. Examples of specialized experience include:
- Formulating policies and guidelines to further education activities and assisting in designing and managing initiatives around basic education;
- Engaging stakeholders, managing projects, and/or providing technical support to work units to accomplish broad programmatic goals;
- Supporting remedial skills, accelerated learning, non-formal education, the transition to secondary education, curriculum design, and foundational literacy and numeracy;
- Working in crisis environments, with upper grades, and in non-traditional educational settings; and
- Serving as an AOR/COR, Activity Manager, and/or subject matter expert for programming mechanisms.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
