Building professional skills for a lifetime of employability: The Volvo Group
Private Sector Engagement to Ensure Sustainability
USAID and The Volvo Group partnership, along with host governments and others, seeks to expand vocational and technical educational opportunities to young people - particularly women and vulnerable populations – across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. The goal is to build professional skills for a lifetime of employability, and a stronger, more skilled workforce as a driver for broader economic growth.
By supporting the establishment and upgrading of local industrial training academies, the partnership helps to meet the labor market’s increasing demand for skilled employees, and the initiatives ultimately contribute to inclusive and sustainable development.
There are opportunities to expand this partnership model to new countries to strengthen the regional workforce and foster stronger industrial and transport solutions to grow U.S. and local trade markets.
