Read with Me Activity
In the education sector, USAID's interventions help advance the shift away from obsolete soviet practices. The goal of this activity is to improve reading outcomes for students in grades 1–4 in targeted schools in Tajikistan by providing educators with reading-specific in-service training, supplementary materials, and integration of assessments to monitor reading progress. In addition to improving reading instruction, this activity will increase the availability of age-appropriate reading materials in mother-tongue languages, specifically Tajik and Russian, that will develop students' core reading skills; increase government support for reading through capacity building in the area of reading instruction and mentoring; and increase innovations and partnerships supporting literacy outcomes.
