Let's Read Together (Tusome Pamoja)

This cornerstone activity in the Tanzanian mission seeks to improve student outcomes in reading in the early primary grades. This activity works with the Ministry of Education Science and Technology and Ministry of Education and Vocational Training of Tanzania and Zanzibar, respectively, to review and implement a lower primary education curriculum that prioritizes reading, writing and math. Efforts support improved early grade reading outcomes; improved quality of reading instruction, including teacher-conducted assessments; scalable teacher development, training and coaching-mentoring systems; improved district and school-based planning through data analysis; and community support of schools and teaching-learning processes.
